‘SL will be the destination to visit in 3 months’

UTV | COLOMBO –

Former State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena believes the country’s tourism industry will be one of the best in the world in the coming months.

Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo today Abeywardena said the manner in which steps were taken by the government to stem the coronavirus is a testament to Sri Lanka’s healthcare system.

He said since the world is facing an economic recession, Sri Lanka must be ready to face the same situation, claiming that after ensuring national security, the country can be a prime destination for tourists to visit within the next three months.

Abeywardena added as a county that can guarantee security over both the health crisis and other threats, the President was able to make this result possible, claiming that President Rajapaksa also took certain decisions with the emergence of the virus, and believed that providing concessions to the people was not the only thing that needed to be done.

The Former State Minister also expressed confidence that the Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Alliance will claim a win at the General Election.

He said the government is seeking a 2/3rds majority in Parliament to ensure the approval given by the people to the President, adding that they hope to vest this majority towards ensuring national security, prioritising expectations of the youth and also reviving the economy.
