Third phase of Priority Bus Lane project underway

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The third phase of the Colombo Priority Bus Lane project commenced this morning.

Police said regulations were implemented from 6am along several roads in Colombo. Accordingly, the bus lanes will be operational from the Ingurukade Junction, along the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Mawatha, Armour street, Maligawatta, Maradana to Colombo Fort under the third phase.

The bus lanes will be operational during peak hours, from 6am to 9am and between 4pm and 6pm.

Police said private buses, buses operated by the Sri Lanka Transport Board, staff buses with more than 20 seats and buses and vans transporting school children, must only travel on bus lanes.

The first phase of the Colombo Priority Bus Lane project was implemented on the 8th of June while the second phase commenced on the 22nd of this month.
