Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 tally increases to 2,037

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The total number of coronavirus cases confirmed in the country has risen to 2,037.

The Health Ministry confirmed that four new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country, yesterday.

The Department of Government Information said a returnee from Bangladesh, housed at a quarantine centre in Waskaduwa, a returnee from Kuwait, housed at the Trincomalee quarantine centre, an individual who returned from India and was at the Diyatalawa quarantine centre, and an individual who returned from Pakistan and was housed at the Waikkal quarantine centre, tested positive for COVID-19.

Accordingly, 747 persons who returned from overseas recently have tested positive for COVID-19 in the country, while 904 Navy personnel have also contracted the novel coronavirus in Sri Lanka.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health also said the number of COVID-19 patients who recovered in Sri Lanka increased to 1,661 after 22 individuals were discharged from hospitals.

Accordingly, 365 COVID-19 patients are currently receiving medical treatment at 11 hospitals across the country.

51 persons who are suspected to have contracted the virus are also under medical observation.
