Legal action to be taken if face masks are not worn

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Police says legal action will be taken against individuals who fail to wear face masks.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana said any individual found to be flouting health guidelines in place will be dealt with by the law.

The DIG said the support of the public is required until COVID-19 is eradicated.

DIG Ajith Rohana said health practices such as washing hands and maintaining social distancing that were maintained for three months should continue. 

The DIG said any individual behaving contradictory to quarantine regulations will be brought to book.

He noted that some countries are facing a second and a third wave of coronavirus cases.

While acknowledging that Sri Lanka has contained the spread of the coronavirus, he claimed that the threat of the coronavirus has not eased.
