Airport reopening still in discussion

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Airport and Aviation Services Ltd. says a final decision has not been reached, even though preparations are being made, to reopen the Bandaranaike International Airport for foreign nationals from the 1st of August.

Chairman Rt. Major General GA Chandrasiri speaking to a prominent online news portal in the isle said reopening the airport on the 1st of August is in the initial phases of discussion.

He said opening the airport to foreign nationals, at a time that more than 40,000 Lankan expatriates are seeking to return to Sri Lanka, is a concern.

Therefore Major General Chandrasiri stated that the matter is still in discussion.
