Over 1,000 COVID-19 recoverees in Sri Lanka

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The number of COVID-19 recoveries in Sri Lanka has surpassed the 1,500 mark.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said another 28 persons who contracted the novel coronavirus have recovered following medical treatment, raising the total COVID-19 recoveries to 1,526.

Nine COVID-19 patients were released from the Minuwangoda Base hospital, five each from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, the Welikanda Base hospital and from the Hambanthota District hospital during the past 24 hours.

The Epidemiology Unit confirmed two individuals have also been released from the Homagama Base hospital while one COVID-19 patient each were discharged from the Kattankudy Base hospital and the Teldeniya Base hospital during the past 24 hours.

31 persons who are suspected to have contracted the virus are under medical observation.

Meanwhile, no new cases of coronavirus have been identified in the country for the second consecutive day.

According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health, 1,950 COVID-19 patients have been detected in Sri Lanka since January this year.

Three new cases were detected on Friday but the Health Ministry did not confirm any new cases over the weekend.

Accordingly, 413 COVID-19 patients are currently receiving medical treatment at 11 hospitals across the country.
