No spectators at Kandy Esala Perahera

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela says the Esala perehera of the Kandy Temple of the Tooth Relic will take to the streets without spectators.

Speaking at a media briefing Nilanga Dela said the decision was taken based on health directives issued by authorities.

He said the number of artists in the procession have also been reduced by 30-40 persons.

The Diyawadana Nilame said all participants in the procession must undergo medical tests prior to joining the procession.

He added the number of elephants that will join the Esala perahera processions have been reduced from between 50-60.
