(UTV | COLOMBO) – Former State Minister Shehan Semasinghe says the Opposition is awaiting a spike in coronavirus cases in the country.
Speaking at a media briefing today, Semasinghe said the government is committed to the betterment of the people.
Semasinghe charged the Opposition of awaiting a dip in the country’s economy, businesses to declare bankruptcy under the present administration and unemployment to soar.
He added the Opposition is eager to seek the public living in trying conditions.
Despite these challenges the former State Minister reiterated the government under the leadership of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will work towards uplifting the living conditions of the country’s citizens.
Semasinghe pointed out that the power struggle within the Opposition was to solve their internal quarrels.
He charged their main focus was distorted, as they were vested in internal conflicts and not preparing for the upcoming 2020 General Election.
