Navy assists apprehension of person with Kerala cannabis

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Navy apprehended a person with 6.4kg of Kerala cannabis, during a coordinated operation conducted with the Police in Nochchimudei area, Omanthai.

Sri Lanka Navy has been playing a pivotal role in support of the national effort to create a drug- free society. As an extension of these operations, naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command in coordination with the Settikulam Police STF conducted an operation in Nochchimudei area, Omanthai on 16th June 2020. During this operation, a suspicious person was detected and about 6.4kg of Kerala cannabis made ready to be sold was recovered in his possession. Accordingly, the suspect along with cannabis was taken into custody. The suspect was identified as a 29 year old resident of Omanthai.

The accused along with Kerala cannabis was handed over to the Omanthai Police for onward legal action.
