COVID-19 recoveries rise to 1,287

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The number of COVID-19 recoveries in Sri Lanka has risen to 1,287.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 35 persons who contracted the novel coronavirus were released from hospitals during the past 24 hours.

The Health Ministry said 10 COVID-19 patients were released from the Teldeniya Base Hospital, seven from the Iranawila Hospital, five each from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and the Homagama Base Hospital, three from the Kattankudy Base Hospital, two each from the Welikanda Base Hospital and the Colombo East Base Hospital and one individual from the Hambantota District General Hospital.

589 COVID-19 patients are currently receiving medical treatment at 11 hospitals across the country.

35 persons who are suspected to have contracted the virus are also under observation.

Meanwhile the number of coronavirus cases confirmed in Sri Lanka increased to 1,887.

The Government Information Department said three Navy personnel housed at the Kalpitiya quarantine centre tested positive for COVID-19 today.
