Navy seizes 104 kgs of Kerala Cannabis

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Sri Lanka Navy has seized over 104 kgs of Kerala Cannabis during a special operation carried out at the Kusumanthurai beach in Jaffna.

Navy personnel had observed individuals who were carrying suspicious sacks withdrawn from a dinghy which landed ashore yesterday.

Patrolling Navy personnel had subsequently reached the area, however the dinghy and its suspects had escaped at the time.

Further inspection of the sacks revealed 25 parcels of Kerala cannabis weighing about 57 kgs.

Following further investigations two suspects were taken into custody and upon interrogation, another 13 parcels containing another 46 kgs of Kerala Cannabis were discovered abandoned at sea.

Accordingly the Nazy seized a total of 104 kgs of Cannabis during the operation.

The suspects and the seized cannabis have been handed over to the Police for further action.
