(UTV | COLOMBO) – President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed officials to expedite the reconstruction of the Thuparamaya Temple under the supervision of the Department of Archaeology.
The President’s Media Division said the Thuparamaya has entered history as the first Stupa in the country according to written evidence. Ven. Kahalle Gnaninda thera requested the President to clear the area belonging to the sacred land.
A discussion was held at the Presidential Secretariat on the development of the Thuparamaya Temple.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa pointed out the importance of developing the Thuparamaya as a place of archaeological value with beneficial facilities.
The President instructed officials to compile a plan and complete work in two years.
