Fort Intelligence OIC claims communication lapses even after April 21

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Intelligence OIC of Fort, where two major Easter Sunday attacks took place said yesterday even after the attacks, still there is no proper mechanism to communicate intelligence information. IP R.W Thilakaratne informed this while testifying before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) into Easter Sunday attacks.

He added that they had not been received directions to conduct deep intelligence investigations by the authorities before or after the attacks.

During the testimony, representatives from the Attorney General’s department questioned the witness whether he had been received early warnings about the attacks and had any network of contacts to collect intelligence information with regard to the possible attacks. “The network of contacts maintained by us are mostly comprised of trade unionists because a Fort area is an important spot when it comes to trade union activities,” responding to the question he said.  (Courtesy – DM)
