JVP questions govt over use of COVID-19 funds

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The JVP has questioned the government over the use of funds collected in the COVID-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund.

Former Parliamentarian Sunil Handunnetti speaking at a media briefing said the cost of living has seen a rapid increase recently.

He claimed that the prices of dhal, sugar, potatoes, coconut oil, milk powder and other goods have increased drastically.

While pointing out that the government’s administrative expenditure reduced during the past three months due to the lockdown, the Former MP said the government through such measures saved large sums of funds.

Handunnetti also charged the government of failing to provide the public the concession of reduced fuel prices in line with the prices in the world market.
