‘100 observers to monitor the election process this week’

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Centre for Monitoring Election Violence says it will deploy nearly 100 observers to monitors the election process this week.

National Coordinator Manjula Gajanayake said observers will be deployed to monitor polling booths, at counting centres and also as mobile patrol teams.

Manjula Gajanayake noted that nearly 160 observers will be based at respective electorates.

He said those canvassing while disregarding quarantine laws will be dealt with according to law.

National Coordinator of the CMEV Manjula Gajanayake added that observers are also expected to report all election related malpractices in addition to quarantine law violations.
