Thondaman’s funeral: PHIs want legal action against disrupters

(UTV | COLOMBO) – While condemning the actions of certain individuals of late Minister Arumugam Thondamn’s party in coercing DGHS Dr. Anil Jasinghe, the Public Health Inspectors’ Union said legal actions should be taken against those who disrupted the working of the health authorities.

The union said the politically motivated actions taken by those individuals in performing the last rites of Mr. Thondaman violated the public health guidelines in the country.

Chairman of the Union, Upul Rohana said he had already warned the relevant authorities that these actions could potentially cause a rise in the spread of COVID-19 virus. Moreover, he said they would not hesitate to take legal action against these individuals if a COVID-19 infected case was reported among those who were involved in Mr. Thondaman’s final rites.
