403 Navy sailors recover from COVID-19

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Another 15 Navy personnel who contracted the novel coronavirus have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals yesterday.

Accordingly the number of Navy personnel who recovered after contracting COVID-19 has increased to 403.

Of the 15 discharged yesterday, eight had been receiving treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, four at the Homagama Base Hospital, two at the Colombo East Base Hospital and another individual at the Navy General Hospital.

The discharged Navy personnel were directed to remain in quarantine for another 14 days following healthcare instructions.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 758 Navy sailors have tested positive for COVID-19 thus far.

The number of coronavirus cases presently stands at 1,620.

Meanwhile the number of persons who recovered after contracting COVID-19 increased to 801.

809 COVID-19 patients are currently receiving medical treatment at nine hospitals across the country.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 74 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation at present.

10 deaths in the country have also been linked to COVID-19.
