Final rites of Arumugan Thondaman on Sunday at Norwood

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The final rites of the leader of the Ceylon Workers’ Congress Minister of Livestock and Rural Community Development the late Arumugan Thondaman will be performed on Sunday at the Norwood Grounds.

Thondaman, aged 55, was admitted to a hospital in Talangama last evening after suffering a heart attack where he passed away.

His remains will be placed at his residence in Battaramulla today and will be placed at the Parliamentary complex for a few hours tomorrow.

The late Minister’s remains will also be placed at the headquarters of the Ceylon Workers’ Congress in Flower Road, Colombo 7.

His remains will then be taken to his residence in Ramboda, Kotmale on Friday and will subsequently be placed at the headquarters of the Ceylon Workers’ Congress in Kotagala on Saturday.

The final rites will take place on Sunday.

Arumugan Thondaman is a grandson of the founder of the Ceylon Workers’ Congress Saumyamoorthi Thondaman.

Thondaman represented Parliament since 1994 representing the people in estates.

He secured 61,897 votes at the 2015 General Election and was elected to Parliament from the Nuwara-Eliya District.
