Talks to be held on inter-provincial bus services

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Minister of Passenger Transport Management Mahinda Amaraweera says a discussion will be held today with health units pertaining to commencing inter-provincial bus services.

Minister Amaraweera said although curfew regulations will be relaxed in the Colombo and Gampaha Districts from tomorrow, bus services can only resume based on permission granted by the Ministry of Health.

The Minister added several issues may also arise as the coronavirus outbreak has not been mitigated yet.

Minister Amaraweera stressed permission has only been granted for inter-provincial bus services to resume in all areas, apart from the Colombo and Gampaha Districts.

The Minister further noted only persons with special permission will be allowed to enter Colombo via train.

He said however the decision reached during today’s meeting with health authorities will be considered as the final decision.
