7 COVID-19 Navy sailors recover & discharged

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Seven Navy personnel who contracted COVID-19 have been discharged after making complete recoveries.

The group tested negative in the recent random PCR tests that were conducted.

Accordingly, the seven Navy personnel were discharged yesterday. With the seven Sailors the number of Navy officers who have been discharged having recovered from the coronavirus increased to 300.

The number of coronavirus cases reported in Sri Lanka presently stands at 1,141.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 52 individuals tested positive for the virus yesterday.

Of the 52 COVID-19 cases reported yesterday were 49 returnees from Kuwait who were lodged at quarantine centres upon arriving in the country.

The Government Information Department said two Navy personnel and another returnee from Indonesia who were also in quarantine centres tested positive yesterday.

Of the 1,141 infections in the country are 628 Navy personnel. 458 COVID-19 patients continue to receive treatment at several hospitals across the island.

Meanwhile the number of persons who recovered after testing positive for COVID-19 in the country rose to 674.

97 persons remain under medical observation over suspicions, they may have contracted the virus.
