LKR 2 Million grant from Sri Lanka Football to National COVID-19 Health Care Fund

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) provided with an amount of Rs. 2.0 million for the
Covid-19 Health Care and Social Fund to support the government’s efforts in preventing the breakout of this pandemic in the country.

The donation was received on behalf HE the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa by Major General (rtd) K.B. Egodawele the Chief of President’s staff today (14th May 2020) from the FFSL President, Anura De Silva along with FFSL Secretary General, Jaswar Umar and Special Projects Chairman Major General (rtd) Athula Kodippili.

Furthermore, FFSL has initiated various relief assistant program in collaboration with FIFA to assist Clubs, Players, Regional Leagues, Referees, Coaches, former National Players, and many other stakeholders in the football family.

This relief program not only covers the island wide areas geographically but also provides benefits for hundreds of footballers and their families. The said program mainly focuses onproviding dry ration foods for affected people.

However, at some instances financial assistant were provided for to National Players, former National Players and to Referees. This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program has costed FFSL Rs. 23 Million up to now. FFSL is also working with FIFA and AFC to seek out the possibilities to provide additional supports for those who are affected in this pandemic.
