Ex Kurunegala Hospital director claims transfer is politically driven

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Former Director of Kurunegala Teaching Hospital, Dr. Sarath Weerabandara says his transfer is an act of political vengeance.

He was temporarily assigned to the Ministry of Health recently, under the recommendations of the Director General of Health Services.

Dr. Weerabandara also claimed that transferring him at a time when an election has been called is a violation of the law.

He made these remarks holding a media briefing on his transfer.

However, the organization to protect the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital emphasized they would resort to a trade union action if Dr. Weerabandara’s transfer is not processed.
