Former Minister Rishad files FR petition before Supreme Court

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Leader of the All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC), former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen today (21) filed a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition before the Supreme Court.

Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Director of the CID and the Attorney General (AG) have been named as respondents in the FR petition.

In his FR petition, the former Minister stated that the CID may arrest him over the investigation into an alleged incident of transporting voters from Puttalam utilising buses of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) during the last Presidential Election, a claim he vehemently denied.
