“Westworld” renewed for 4th season

(UTV | COLOMBO) – HBO has officially renewed its sci-fi drama series “Westworld” for a fourth season at HBO. The news comes ahead of the conclusion of the currently airing third season which began on March 15th and runs through to May 3rd.

Casey Bloys, president of HBO Programming, says in a statement: “From the western theme park to the technocratic metropolis of the near future, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed every twist and turn from the minds of master storytellers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. We can’t wait to see where their inspired vision takes us next.”

The series is described as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the question of free will. The cast also includes Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thomspon, Aaron Paul, and Vincent Cassel.

Ratings wise the show is reportedly down by around 50% in Live+Same Day numbers. According to Nielsen data, the premiere notched 901,000 viewers in Live+Same Day viewing, a 57% drop from Season 2’s premiere.
