(UTV | COVID-19) – The Former Speaker of Parliament has refuted rumours surrounding the reconvening of Parliament.
While fighting Covid-19, Sri Lanka does not want another constitutional crisis. Therefore, rumours that I would reconvene the Parliament unilaterally are false. All efforts must be taken by the Executive to avert a crisis. In a dispute, I am bound to uphold judiciary’s decision.

Karu Jayasuriya stated via Twitter that rumours that he would reconvene the Parliament unilaterally are false.
He further said while fighting COVID-19, Sri Lanka does not want another Constitutional crisis.
All efforts must be taken by the Executive to avert a crisis.
In a dispute, I am bound to uphold the decision made by the Judiciary, Karu Jayasuriya added.
