“Green Hornet and Kato” film planned

(UTV | Colombo) -Universal Pictures and Amasia Entertainment are teaming for “The Green Hornet and Kato,” a new feature based on the iconic radio, movie serial & TV character currently in development.

First created by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker in 1936, The Green Hornet was one of early radio’s most popular adventure shows before being turned into 1940s movie serials and a 1966 TV series which starred Bruce Lee as Kato.

The story centers around Britt Reid, owner/publisher of The Daily Sentinel. Armed with knowledge from his sources, weapons, a car known as The Black Beauty, and his trusty aide Kato, Reid became vigilante crime fighter The Green Hornet who is wanted by the police and feared by crooks everywhere.

Michael Helfant and Bradley Gallo will produce the new film. Evan Goldberg and star Seth Rogen previously adapted the property to film in 2011 with Seth Rogen and Jay Chou.
