David Bruckner helms the “Hellraiser” reboot

(UTV | COLOMBO) – David Bruckner (“The Ritual,” “The Signal”) has been set as director of the upcoming reboot of the “Hellraiser” franchise at Spyglass Entertainment.

Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski are penning the script from a story by David Goyer. Goyer will produce through his Phantom Four studio alongside Keith Levine.

The original 1987 film was based upon Clive Barker’s novella “The Hellbound Heart” and made a tidy $14 million off a $1 million budget. The film, and subsequent series, dealt with a puzzle box that called forth the cenobites (demons from Hell). The series was famous for its often extreme, yet imaginative gore.

Bruckner’s new film “Night House” made its world premiere at Sundance earlier this year and was sold to Searchlight for $12 million.
