Lankans stranded abroad to be repatriated

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Government has decided to bring back 33 Sri Lankans who have been stranded abroad at 13 international airports due to the global outbreak of the Coronavirus.

The stranded group of individuals consists of 7 Sri Lankans in Singapore, 5 each in Egypt and Oman, 3 in Dubai, 2 in Turkey, 1 each in Ethiopia, Malaysia, India, the Maldives, and Portugal. They will undergo a 21- day quarantine period after landing in the country.

The stranded Sri Lankans are to be brought back based on a proposal submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers by the Minister of Foreign Relations Dinesh Gunawardena.
