“The Others” modern remake in the works

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Sentient Entertainment has scored the remake rights to Alejandro Amenabar’s 2001 supernatural film “The Others” which starred Nicole Kidman.

The plan is to reinvent and modernise the story and the new take has reportedly already attracted significant interest from A-list talent and studio backers.

The original film was a period tale in which a war widow hides her children away in an isolated and always curtained mansion due to them having xeroderma pigmentosum, a rare disease characterised by extreme photosensitivity.

The arrival of three mysterious servants unlocks the house’s terrifying secrets. The film not only scored awards nominations, it was a big hit and made over USD 200 million at the global box-office.

Renee Tab, Lucas Akoskin, and Christopher Tuffin will produce.
