Sri Lanka confirms 176th COVID-19 case

The number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country has risen to 176, after two persons tested positive late last evening.

The Ministry of Health confirmed 10 coronavirus cases were reported in the country yesterday.

Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said the cases reported from yesterday included persons from the Homagama Base Hospital, a quarantine centre in Puttalam, and another from Matara who reportedly associated an individual who contracted the virus.

The group also includes two persons identified from Colombo and one other from Negombo.

Meanwhile 33 persons including two foreign nationals have recovered after testing positive for COVID-19 in Sri Lanka.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said six more persons who tested positive recovered and were discharged yesterday, while 138 active cases are currently receiving treatment.
