Over 1400 arrested for violating curfew

The Police have arrested 1493 suspects on charges of violating the islandwide Police curfew within the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today.

An islandwide Police curfew has been in effect since 20 March due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Sri Lanka.

The Police said 360 vehicles were also seized within the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 12, 223 suspects have been arrested since the implementation of the islandwide Police curfew.

The Police said 3017 vehicles, including motorcycles and three- wheelers, have been taken into Police custody during this period.
