UNP Arachchikattuwa PS member arrested

(UTV | COLOMBO) – A United National Party (UNP) member of the Arachchikattuwa Provincial Council was arrested for violating the islandwide Police curfew currently in effect due to the coronavirus outbreak in Sri Lanka.

The Police said the suspect was arrested around 08.00 pm yesterday in the Sinnakarukupane area in Arachchikattuwa.

The politician is reported to have behaved in an unruly manner when a group of Navy Officers on mobile patrol had attempted to explain the present situation in the country.

The Arachchikattuwa Police had thereafter arrested him based on a complaint lodged by the Navy Officials.

The Police said the suspect will be produced before the Chilaw Magistrate’s Court today.
