(UTV|COLOMBO) – All international airports in Sri Lanka are now closed for operations of inward international commercial passenger flights with effect from 4 this morning.
The Civil Aviation Authority said the move comes after a directive issued by health authorities. Airports are expected to re-open for arrivals on the 26th of March.
The CAA said the closure will be reviewed by authorities periodically.
It added despite the new arrangement, Aircraft Departures with passengers originating from Colombo, stop overs and transit passengers will be permitted.
The CAA added emergency diversions to the BIA, freight operations, humanitarian flights and technical landings at the Bandaranaike International Airport will be permitted despite the announcement of a ban on arrivals to prevent the spread of COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka.
