Hotline to make appointments for blood donations

(UTV|COLOMBO) – National blood reserves are rapidly depleting with the prevailing outbreak of coronavirus (Covid-19), says the National Blood Transfusion Centre (NBTC).

The Director of NBTC Dr. Lakshman Edirisinghe stated that a special hotline will be introduced for blood donors starting from today (19).

Accordingly, blood donors can contact 0115 332153 to make an appointment to avoid overcrowding at the National Blood Centre during blood donation.

The NBTC has noted that any individual who
• Had symptoms like fever, cough and respiratory difficulties during past one month
• Has a family member currently having fever, cough and respiratory difficulties
• Had close contact with a person who travelled overseas during past one month
• Had travelled overseas during past three months, are advised not to donate blood.
