Govt request airlines to commence flights to Mattala & Ratmalana

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Prasanna Ranatunga has requested international airlines to commence flights to the Mattala and Ratmalana International Airports.

Speaking at a meeting with airline representatives the Minister said the government had reached a decision to grant special concessions.

Accordingly, the government has decided to temporarily suspend the Departure Tax at the Mattala Mahinda Rajapaksa International Airport for two years and to reduce the Departure Tax at the Ratmalana International Airport 50 percent for one year.

Minister Ranatunga added the government was also prepared to grant several other concessions including for ground service charges at both airports.
