Malwattha and Asgiri Chapters express displeasure over travel ban on Army Commander

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Malwatte and Asgiriya chapters of Siyam Nikaya Chapters expressed their displeasure over the travel restrictions imposed on Army Commander Shavendra Silva by the United States of America.

Anunayaka of Malwattha Chapter Venerable Dimbulkumbure Wimaladhamma Thera said that it was inappropriate that the United States imposed such a travel ban on the Army commander and his family members.

He said that Sri Lanka was able to end terrorism that plagued the country for decades due to dedicated commitment by the war heroes, and vindication of them in whatever manner was unacceptable to Mahasanga.

Chief Secretary of Asgiri Chapter Venerable Medagama Sri Dhammananda Thera affirmed the views of Ven. Wimaladhamma Thera said that the military fought the war sacrificing their lives against the terrorist with the assistance of some countries. He said some forces act against Sri Lanka at that juncture counting on false propaganda by some NGOs and the separatist organisations.

He said it was a laudable act that the victory against terrorism could be achieved under President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the then Defence Secretary and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa as the then President.

This victory was achieved against the terrorists amid some Western leaders’ interruption exerted on us depending on the malicious reactions of separatists and NGOs under the pretext of protecting human rights.
