PCoI on Political Victimisation to commence hearing

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Political Victimisation will commence evidence hearing from today.

Retired High Court Judge Upali Abeyratne will preside over the hearing of evidence.

The Presidential Commission of inquiry is tasked to look into political victimisation which occurred between 8th of January 2015 and 16th of November 2019.

In addition to examining complaints of political victimisation during the period, the Commission will also inquire into complaints it receives in relation to officers of the Tri-Forces and Sri Lanka Police, and ascertain if inquires, investigations and legal proceedings affected national security.

The Commission has been given six months by the President to submit a report, setting out its findings and recommendations.
