Ajith P Perera unaware of UNP Working Committee removal

(UTV|COLOMBO) – United National Party Parliamentarian Ajith P Perera says he has not been informed of being removed from the UNP Working Committee.

A state newspaper had reported today that MP Perera and Parliamentarian Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka had been removed from the UNP Working Committee.

UNP General Secretary MP Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said the party Working Committee is scheduled to convene at 3pm today.

However, speaking at a media briefing at the Office of the Opposition Leader, MP Perera said he had not been informed of today’s meeting.

The MP claimed he had no information on the matter other than through media reports and expressed hope that the reports were false.

MP Perera claimed he has not been officially or unofficially informed of the matter.

The MP said there was no substantial reason for him to be removed from the Working Committee adding that he was not under any disciplinary inquiry either.

The MP stressed he always protected the UNP.
