No one in bond scam would be penalised: Hirunika

(UTV|COLOMBO) – No one involved in the bond scam would be penalised despite the disclosures in the forensic audit report as Perpetual Treasuries Chief Arjun Aloysius and former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran were good friends of seniors of the main parties, Member of Parliament Hirunika Premachandra said yesterday.

Ms Premachandra told a press conference that no one involved in the bond scam would be penalised as Perpetual Treasuries Chief had given funds for election campaigns to all main political parties.

“Seniors of main political parties are best of friends. Therefore can anyone expect perpetrators brought to book?” the MP said.

“What is discussed at the UNP working committee at Sirikotha goes to the ears of SLPP leaders before anyone else as information is instantly passed by some UNPers themselves,” she added.

“I cannot publicly state as to who were behind these games as I am still a UNPer. However, I will reveal these names the day I go out of the party,” she also said.

The MP reiterated that some media institutions use some politicians to sling mud at her over a personal matter.

“Sometimes I feel that if the one who is in prison in connection with my father’s killing is released, the attacks against me would be stopped,” she said in this regard.

“I am being attacked just because I am a woman and made that speech in Parliament recently,” she also said.

She said personal attacks that are carried out against herself and others including MP Ranjan Ramanayake should be stopped.
