Navy assists apprehension of 3 suspects with stock of Kerala cannabis being transported in a bus [VIDEO]

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Navy, with the assistance of the Anti-Narcotics Bureau, managed to apprehend 3 suspects who were transporting about 176kg of Kerala cannabis in a bus in Palaviya area, Puttalam on Wednesday (22).

As part of another effort of the Navy that is throwing its full weight behind operations to make a drug-free society, the Northwestern Naval Command and the Anti-Narcotics Bureau of Puttalam conducted a search operation in Palaviya area, Puttalam and intercepted a suspicious bus plying on Puttalam – Colombo road. During further search, the security personnel managed to recover a stock of Kerala cannabis about 176kg, concealed in a secret chamber, under the seat. It was revealed that the stock of Kerala cannabis was being transported from Kalpitiya to Colombo. Accordingly, the 03 suspects in connection to this incident were taken into custody.

The accused have been identified as residents of Jaffna and Kilinochchi, aged 29, 31 and 37. The apprehended persons along with the stock of Kerala cannabis were handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Bureau,Puttalam for further investigation.
