Symbol of the flower bud should remain-Keheliya

(UTV|COLOMBO) – State Minister Keheliya Rambukwella says the symbol of the flower bud should be used when contesting the upcoming General Election.

Speaking at a media briefing the State Minister said regardless of who the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna forms an alliance with, the symbol should remain unchanged.

State Minister Rambukwella said many were of the view that there was no room for another symbol in the country, adding that it was proven wrong when a new political vision with a party led by Basil Rajapaksa was formed.

He claimed that on the 10th of January 2018 when people were asked who they were supporting they didn’t mention the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, but instead the flower bud.

Rambukwella stated that the symbol of the flower bud is etched in the hearts of the people.

Meanwhile both State Ministers Aluthgamage and Rambukwella stated that those who lose the General Election will not be allowed to enter Parliament through the National List.

State Minister Rambukwella said the government will assure that no defeated MP’s will enter through the national list.

He stated that the purpose of the national list was ruined in 2015, citing the incident as a reason behind the 225 in Parliament facing much criticism.

State Minister Aluthgamage reiterated that under a government led by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, defeated candidates will never enter parliament.
