FR petition filed by Fowzie to be heard in March

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Supreme Court has decided to consider the Fundamental Rights petition filed by Parliamentarian AHM Fowzie against the decision by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party to terminate his party membership on the 23rd of March.

The decision was announced when the petition was taken up before Justices Vijith Malalgoda, S Thurairajah and Gamini Amarasekera.

The Parliamentarian through his petition has claimed that the SLFP hierarchy has stripped his party membership without following due process.

Parliamentarian AHM Fowzie had also claimed that he continues to pay his SLFP membership fee.

The Chairman of the SLFP, General Secretary and several others have been named as respondents in the Fundamental Rights petition.

Through the petition Parliamentarian AHM Fowzie is seeking to annul the decision to remove him from the SLFP.
