“Public unable to bear the rising cost of living” – MP Ravindra Samaraweera

(UTV|COLOMBO) – United National Party Parliamentarian Ravindra Samaraweera says the public is at present unable to bear the cost of living.

Speaking at a media briefing this morning the MP said the public’s grievances will increase after March.

He charged that the price of all essential items has increased. MP Samaraweera claimed that the difficulties at present are only the beginning of a series of turmoil.

The MP said the government that vehemently opposed the Millennium Challenge Corporation has today appointed commissions to observe the agreement.

MP Ravindra Samaraweera said the United National Party government paid all overdue loan instalments that were due before April 2020 in December 2019.

The MP said failure to do so would have resulted in a depletion of the country’s economy.

He claimed that the present government is at ease at present owing to the former government having settled loan instalments.
