(UTV|COLOMBO) – The March 12th Movement says the country’s social issues have been forgotten following the publication of Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake’s phone recordings.
Addressing an event in Kandy, Convener of the March 12th Movement Rohana Hettiarachchi said the revelation of such incidents are a hallmark of a failed society, adding that failures in social institutions and the judicial and legal sector have become apparent.
He however stressed that if the present state of affairs continues on its erroneous path, then society and the country will be negatively impacted.
Hettiarachchi also drew attention to shining the spotlight on public representatives and their conduct through the controversy.
On a separate note, the PAFFREL Executive Director also echoed recent sentiment that it is desirable for monks and religious leaders to refrain from contesting elections.
