Three-wheeler recovered and driver arrested over child hit-and-run

(UTV | NUWARA ELIYA) – The driver has been arrested and the three-wheeler recovered after a hit-and-run in which a grade 6 student critically injured in Bogawantalawa.

Bogawantalawa Police were searching for a three-wheeler and its driver after a child traveling on the Bogawantalawa – Hatton Main Road near the Bridwell Estate.

The injured student had been first admitted to the Bogawantalawa Hospital and then transferred to the Dickoya Base Hospital over the critical condition.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing critical injuries by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and failing to report a collision.

He is set to be produced before the Hatton Magistrate’s Court today (16).
