President will make SL a developed country -Govt.

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The second day of the adjournment debate on the policy statement delivered by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, is currently being held in Parliament.

Parliament convened at 1pm today under the auspices of Deputy Chairman of Committees Selvam Adaikkalanathan.

Following the presentation of the bills, a number of members representing the government and the opposition expressed their views during the adjournment debate.

The government says President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is focused on transforming Sri Lanka into a developed country.

Joining the debate, Minister Ramesh Pathirana said the President is re-evaluating and accepting proposals to rebuild the nation.

The Minister said an economic programme will be launched to transform the country to a high-income economy.

Minister Ramesh Pathirana said the present administration has been bolden by the support of 6.9 million people who voted for President Rajapaksa at the last election.

He said President Rajapaksa from the first day after he assumed duties as the Head of State, has been taking initiatives for the best interests of the country.
