Sri Lanka reaches out to Australia after devastating bushfires

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka has reached out to Australia, sharing message of support to those affected by the devastating bushfires.

Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, son of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that Sri Lanka stands with Australia at this time.

He stressed that while both countries are worlds apart they are one when it comes to understanding loss.

Australia is fighting one of its worst bushfire seasons, fuelled by record-breaking temperatures and months of drought.

At least 24 people and thousands of animals have died since the fires began in September, 2019. Air quality in the capital Canberra was recently rated the worst in the world.
