Harin condemns Rajan’s arrest

(UTV|COLOMBO) – United National Party Parliamentarian Harin Fernando has condemned the government’s move to arrest MP Ranjan Ramanayake yesterday.

Police last night arrested MP Ramanayake for the possession of a firearm without a valid license and 127 bullets for the pistol in question.

Speaking to media MP Fernando said the present administration has commenced its brutal activities against its political opponents, that was also prevalent before 2014.

He said the general public has huge regard for MP Ramanayake who is well known for speaking against injustice.

Parliamentarian Harin Fernando said MP Ramanayake was arrested for not renewing the license for the firearm provided by the government, which according to him is minor offence.

MP Fernando said he is hopeful that the law will be enforced fairly and MP Ramanayake will be released soon.

He added if the government continues to terrorise political opponents, the public will respond to such acts proportionately at future elections.
