More than 100mm rain today as well: Met Dept.

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Meteorology Department has issued another warning of more than 100mm showers during the day.

They said heavy rainfall could be expected in Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces. Showers and thundershowers would occur in Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces.

A rainfall falls of 75 mm could be expected in Central and North-western provinces.

The Department had issued following rainfall figures for the time period from 08.30 a.m. yesterday to 06.30 a.m. this morning.

Hiyare (Galle District) 106.0mm
Labugama (Colombo district) 104.0mm
Ethkandura (Galle district) 103.5mm
Wanduramba (Galle district) 101.5mm
Ratmalana (Galle district) 101.0mm
Bangamukanda (Galle district) 95.5mm
Udalamaththa ( Galle district) 94.5mm
Colombo (Bauddhaloka Mawatha) 88.0mm
Minuwangoda (Gampaha district) 75.5mm

Meanwhile, the Irrigation Department had issued an island-wide water level situation in major rivers.

Accordingly, minor flood situations were recorded at Millakanda station in Kalu Ganga, Baddegama station in Gin Ganga, Panadugama station in Nilwala Ganga and Dunamale station at Attanagalu Oya.
