COPE calls probe on cough syrup tested on patients

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) has directed the subject Ministry to carry out an immediate investigation into the highly illegal and inhumane testing of an imported cough syrup which should have been tested on animals, instead, been tested on a group of patients.

The testing has taken place in 2016, without patients’ consent or knowledge who had sought medical treatment from the Ayurvedic Teaching Hospital in Colombo.
